Handle type water shut-off valve: this type valve should allow you to turn the water supply off using only your hands. It is recommended that you occasionally turn this valve to the off position then back on to keep it loosened up. Be aware that the inspector does not operate the water valve. In many cases the handle will break off in the inspector's hand or a leak will develop around the handle. Both problems would become the inspector's responsibility.
