Water pressure too low or high water pressure problem, hints from a home inspector
Water pressure too low or high. Pressure is generally between 60 and 75 PSI. Pressure which is too high can be a problem. Supply lines can "blow" off fixtures while you are away and flood the entire house. Low pressure is an inconvenience. There is little which can be done for low pressure unless a regulator has been installed and can be adjusted
up providing there is sufficient pressure available from the source. If you are on a public system, you should have a regulator installed for high pressure problems. If your property already has a regulator it can be set to a lower pressure, if it is not damaged. Contact the water company for additional information. If the system is on a private pump you should call a pump repair service for their opinion. It is fairly easy to change the pressure on a pump system.
