Water pipes fittings joints corroded leaking, hints from a home inspector home inspections
Water pipes fittings joints corroded leaking Corroded joints and pipes are extremely common in older construction. If the inspector indicated the word moderate it usually means, in his opinion, that the condition is tolerable, but should be reviewed periodically. It is recommended that you contact a plumbing contractor for a second opinion. The inspector has no method of determining whether or when the corrosion will cause leaks in the pipes or fittings. Leaks in pipes or fittings should be fixed when they are found. Leaking pipes can cause severe damage to a structure. It may be possible to use a simple pipe clamp to repair the leak. These clamps are not permanent but will last several years. It may be necessary to replace a section of pipe or one or more fittings. Refer to the report for the location of this problem. If you cannot fix the problem yourself you should contact a plumbing contractor for further assistance.
