Electric or gas water heater thermostat
Electric or gas water heater thermostat pilot system damaged control knob missing: plumbing damage to a water heater thermostat can be dangerous. If the system should fail to shut down the source of heat (fuel or electric) the water could become excessively hot causing increased pressure which could rupture the tank. Other problems may include failure of the pilot safety shut-off, control knobs damaged or missing, etc. The inspector will usually indicate the nature of the problem in the report. Although most problems can be repaired sometimes the entire water heater will need to be replaced. Refer to the inspectors recommendations for further information. It may be necessary to contact a plumbing contractor for assistance.
