The last places I would look to buy a water heater are the two big box stores. Maybe they are the same however I personally think those two big companies pay a little as they can for the products they sell and thus are likley to sell the lowest quailty water heaters thay can for the most amount of money.

Water heater quality is an issue as those of us who have had water heaters break know it can be messy and usally the water heater breaks when one can least deal with the trouble and the mess of it all.

I would no sooner buy a lesser quality water heater and change the anode every couple of years than buy cheap tires for my car and change them more often. Just like a bad tire can ruin your day so can a busted water heater. The few dollars you save buying a water heater on sale is just not worth the chance you take buying water heaters of a low quality.

If one were to save $100 buying a lower quality water heater that lasted for eight years or almost 3,000 days how much would you save a day? Would it be worth $0.03 a day not to have to clean up the mess?

Buy the quality water heater at the real plumbing supply store. Sure it may also fail without warning however at least you will know the water heater you bought was a quality water heater and it was not your fault it split open and flooded your house.
