Water heater noisy mineral buildup, hints from a home inspector
Water heater noisy mineral buildup a noisy water heater usually means mineral deposits are present on the bottom of the heater inside the tank or on the heating elements of an electric water heater. The heat creates gas bubbles which try to get through the mineral deposits. This action creates a loud boiling sound. Draining the tank may help. Sometimes it does not. In the case of electric water heaters replacement of the lower element may be necessary. When draining the tank be sure to shut the cold water valve, atop the water heater, off. Open one or two hot water faucets in the building to allow the water to drain from the heater without suction. Contact a plumbing contractor for further assistance and another opinion if you desire.
