Water heater enclosure closet damaged loose, hints from a home inspector
Water heater enclosure closet damaged loose The enclosure is installed often to allow for a quick method of moving water heaters outside of buildings. Many times the enclosure will not be fastened to the exterior wall, etc. There are other possibilities for the inspector noting this item so be sure to read the report for further information. If the problem is one with a metal enclosure it may be necessary to secure the enclosure to the side of the building. Use of screws is best since nails seem to work loose. If the enclosure is damaged somehow prepare to repair with sheet metal screws or "stove bolts." If the enclosure is constructed of wood or other combustibles it should be closely monitored for scorches, etc. Some materials should not be close to the water heater at all. This may include cardboard or thin wood paneled walls. Should you need assistance with this repair call one of the many home repair services found in the yellow pages of your telephone directory.
