Turning Your Power Back On
If the power goes out in your home your first
action should be to look out the window.
If your neighbors lights are still lit the
problem may be within your electric panel.
If your neighbors lights are out it is likely
the problem is system wide.
During a power outage it is a great idea to shut
all the circuit breakers in your panel off and
to just leave on a circuit or two powering light
fixtures you leave on. When power is
restored the lights will light alerting you to
go to the electric panel and slowly restore
power one circuit at a time. Flipping all
the circuit breakers on quickly can cause a
voltage surge that can damage electrical components.
Take your time in restoring power to circuits
with motors (air conditioning systems and
refrigerators) if power cycles on and off
quickly the compressor motors can be destroyed.
If the problem persists, you may need to consult
with an electrician.
