Sump pump drain system, hints from a home inspector
Sump pump drain system: sump pump systems are not inspected as to their operational capabilities since it would require many gallons of water to activate the system. The inspector will attempt to activate the pump electrically if possible. In some areas sump pumps are not allowed to discharge into the municipal sewer lines. The inspector would not know whether the sump pump is connected to the sewer system or simply discharges onto the property. It is recommended that you ask the seller for this information before purchasing the property. Contact the inspector should you need further information. It is important that you know whether or not this system operates well since the area it serves may be flooded if it failed during heavy rains or other plumbing failures leading to water flooding. It is recommended that you contact a plumbing contractor for further assistance. It is very important you know how to monitor and
maintain the system.
