SLATE: Slate floors are rare today. Cleaning with special slate floor cleaners is recommended. Use non-yellowing wax for added protection. Any floor covering materials laid over wood subfloors effectively prevents the inspector from determining the condition of the subfloor. Wood rot can go undetected if not visible to the inspector. Contact the inspection company for further information if you desire. 

Terrazzo floors are extremely durable and beautiful. They are seldom installed in today's homes. Their care is much like ceramic tile. for additional information.
