Sewer drain line damaged leaks improper, hints from a home inspector
Sewer drain line damaged leaks improper this item is relatively self explanatory. Leaks should be repaired at once to prevent damage to the structure or its components. Sometimes drain lines will not have enough slope causing eventual problems in the system. Slope usually should be
14 inch fall per foot run. Sometimes we see rubber hoses connected in place of a sewer or drain line. In some areas the cap will be missing from atop the property trap vent. This is often located in the alley behind the property, but could be anywhere. Sometimes drain or sewer lines will not be strapped to the underside of buildings sufficiently causing sags in the pipe, etc. Neoprene clamps are available and can be used to stop most leaks. It may be necessary to remove and replace some of the pipe. It is generally easiest to replace pipes with abs plastic drain. Insufficient fall may be difficult to remedy and may require removing several feet of pipe, although often the pipe can simply be strapped up to a new position. Missing property vent caps can be replaced with coffee cans or the like, provided that they are secured with a
clamp they should not be air tight. It is recommended that you call on the services of a plumbing contractor if you feel you cannot perform the repairs yourself. Sometimes home repair services are available to make these type repairs.
