Radon In Granite Countertops
Radon in granite countertops is old news to many. Most people in the radon field consider the quantity of radon in countertops to be
insignificant and not likely to be enough to cause any real problem in the home.
That said NOT LIKELY does not mean IMPOSSIBLE.
Since radon can not be seen or smelled and it is a KNOWN carcinogen the only way to determine how much radon is being
emitted by a granite countertop is to have the countertop tested by a licensed radon measurement
technician.
According to the EPA radon is the leading cause of lung cancer for not smokers and the second leading cause of lung cancer for non smokers.
Since lung cancer is frequently fatal one can not be too careful.
If you need your granite countertop tested for radon gas give us a call.
