Plastic water pipe, hints from a home inspector
Plastic water pipe, when retrofitted in the main water supply line to the property, may negate the grounding of the electrical system (with respect to lightning strikes). If a plastic pipe has been so retrofitted the requirement for a grounding electrode may be satisfied with a 96 inch long copper rod driven into the ground and connected to the ground system of your electric panel. Contact an electrical contractor for an additional opinion and assistance in this matter.
