Metal chimney improper damaged storm collar

Metal chimney improper damaged storm collar : The inspector will enter this item if it is noted that the metal chimney is in some way damaged or improperly installed. Occasionally inspectors will note triple-wall pipe with the inner lining out of position or the entire stack separated in the attic or chase. Sometimes the chimney chase will not be properly capped allowing rain water to enter. Any of these problems should be corrected as soon as possible. Contact a chimney sweep for assistance if needed. Storm-collars are used around metal pipe chimney vents where they pass through the vent jack on the roof. Lack of one could allow water to run down the vent and damage interior ceilings and walls. Usually a storm-collar can be retrofitted. If one is not in place, use silicone caulk around the jack/vent juncture. Call a sheet metal or roofing contractor.

Chimney movement noted Chimney mortar bricks or blocks loose cracked. Fire stops not installed in vent chimney chase
