Manufactured fireplaces have fire resistant ceramic panels
Manufactured fireplaces have fire resistant ceramic panels installed on the sides and back of the fire box. These will crack if very large fires are allowed in the fireplace. Generally replacement of the panels will be necessary if excessive cracking is noted. Replacement panels are usually available and are quite easy to install. Contact a fireplace distributor for additional information. Call NJ home inspectors for assistance and more information.
