Laundry tub or sink: laundry tubs, hints from a home inspector
Laundry tub or sink: laundry tubs or "trays" are very helpful, but one should be certain that the faucet spout does not extend below the fixture flood rim. In the event this configuration exists, there could, under certain circumstances, be a condition where polluted water may enter into the potable (drinkable) water supply. This occurs when sewer water backs up to the point that the tub spout is covered with water. Some of the old concrete tubs are very heavy and care must be taken that they not be overturned by a child swinging on the rim. Be certain that these older heavy units are well secured to the wall. Check the drain trap occasionally for leaks or rust.
