High Volume Exaust Fan

High Volume Exaust Fan Large high volumen exaust fans work well to cool homes when cooler air exists outside. Many homes in the New Jersey area have them and the occupants save money because they are less expensive to operate than air conditioning. The key to being happ with a high volume exuast fan is to open all the windows and run the fan when it is cool out (overnight) then to shut the fan and slowly close all the windows in the home. Doing so traps the cooler and dryer air in the home while the sun is out.

Letting the high volume exaust fan run all day just sucks in hot humid air from the exterior and is just a waste of energy.

These fans are noisy and do suck in dust and dirt. When the fan is in operation open your front door 1/2". If the front door stays open 1/2" or so you have enough windows open. If the door blows open then your house is pressure negitive and more windows must be opened.

NEVER run a high volume exaust fan when your fireplace is in operation. You will fill your home with smoke then fire.
Should your fan stop working it is necessary to check the belt first if that is not the problem call for serivce. Ducting damaged separated leaking Duct insulation or vapor barrier wrap missing Evaporator case plenum air leak Register loose damaged missing
