Gas oil valve line leaks important note, hints from a home inspector

Gas oil valve line leaks: important note. This inspection service does not report on natural or LPG gas line leaks unless the odor of gas is noted. No other testing is performed. If the property is supplied with natural gas it is recommended that a "gas safety check" be performed by the gas company before you take possession of the property. Leaks in gas or oil lines or valves must be corrected immediately. Leaks may require the removal and replacement of sections of pipe or the replacement of valves. One of the most common leaks found during inspections is at the flex pipe connectors. These can often be repaired with a wrench by simply tightening the nut. Check for leaks using a mixture of dish soap and water. Spread the mixture on all joints and valves. Any gas leaks will cause the soap to bubble (if the gas is turned on and if the line is under pressure). Never use open flame to test for leaks. Refer to the report for possible locations of the problem. Although many leaks can be repaired by the property owner it may be necessary to contact a plumbing contractor for remedies. Transite pipe
