Gas pipes in ground or concrete without wrapping gas pipes, hints from a home inspector
Gas pipes in ground or concrete without wrapping: gas pipes passing through the ground usually are wrapped with a plastic tape or they are coated with a plastic shield. These wrappings help to keep water and salts away from the iron pipe. The assumed life expectancy of wrapped pipe is much longer than that of unwrapped pipe. If this item is entered, and if natural gas is supplied to the property, it is highly recommended that a "gas safety check" be performed by the local gas company before you take possession of the property. Indicate the presence of unwrapped pipes in the ground to the gas company. For
