Electric fan or blower system: Electric fans are installed with many zero clearance prefabricated fireplaces and stoves and where inserts have been installed.  These are not removed by the inspection company. They are retrofitted to other fireplaces. They help to distribute the heat out and away from the firebox. Listen for unusual noises when the fan is running as unusual noises sometimes are signals of pending problems.
