Drain water heater tank, hints from a home inspector
Drain water heater tankdraining are important if you live in a hard water area. Electric water heaters recover somewhat slower than do gas water heaters . For this reason a larger electric water heater would be needed than if you had a gas unit. Usually a 50 gallon electric water heater will replace a 40 gallon gas water heater. Check all fittings and electrical connections at least once each season. Look for leaks or loose connections. Electric water heaters are often placed in cramped quarters and are sometimes never noticed by the property owners. We recommend at least a quick visual check of the water heater on a monthly basis in addition to a more thorough seasonal inspection. Many times, property owners never notice electric water heaters until a flood of water from a rusted-out tank suddenly appears on their floors.
