Domestic hot water coil in boiler, hints from a home inspector
Domestic coil in boiler: in a properly maintained heating unit the domestic coil insert or attachment can be expected to provide quick recovery and trouble free operation. The coil picks up heat but does not allow potable water to mix with the water within the boiler. Some older coils may be coated with lime, calcium or slime and may be reduced in efficiency. Be aware that the inspector does not check the efficiency of water heating units. Contact the inspector for additional information regarding this limitation if you desire.
