Chimney height to roof, chimeny hight over building, minimum chimney height over roof or building 10' away insufficient: Building standards require that chimneys terminate at least 24 inches above any part of the building that is within 10 feet of the chimney and at least 36 inches above the roof penetration. Extension devices are available and are not too difficult to install. Contact a chimney specialist or chimney sweep for additional information.
