NEW JERSEY HOME INSPECTOR CERTIFIED LICENSED ASHI MEMBER IN NEW JERSEY, BERGEN COUNTY, PASSAIC COUNTY, ESSEX COUNTY AND MORRIS COUNTY IN NJ.

Mold and mildew have been in the news quite a bit lately.  So much so that one would think medical journals are full of instances where people have gotten sick from mold and mildew in alarming numbers.
I hate to tell you I personally know quite a few doctors and none report ever seeing such information in reputable medical journals.

So if the problem is not documented in medical journals are mold and mildew that big of a deal?
I say yes they are for one reason .... public perception.  If a you are told a problem or potential problem exists in a home and you care enough to ask questions it is likely the person you sell your home to one day may have the same concerns.

Another major problem at the moment is home owner's insurance. Believe it or not it is getting more and more difficult to get home owner's insurance.  Insurance companies make money whey you pay them a premium not when they pay a claim,   Many home owners are finding out insurance companies will not write a policy for home that have had leaks or mold and mildew issues.  If you can't insure a home you can't get a mortgage, this makes it difficult to sell your home.

The far bigger potential problem is that you and your family move into the home and shortly after someone gets very sick.  Perhaps it had nothing to do with mold at all, none the less why take the chance.
