Aluminum gas lines, hints from a home inspector
Aluminum gas lines are common as connectors between rigid pipe and appliances. Aluminum pipe or tube should never be passed through walls, floors or ceilings. Treat aluminum pipe gently since it is somewhat more fragile than most other pipes. It is recommended that all aluminum pipe connectors be replaced with approved flex connectors, as soon as possible, especially in earthquake prone areas.
Semi rigid aluminum pipes are much more likely to pull apart than newer flex connectors when distressed.
