Air conditioning condensation problem, AC condensation, AC problem, Air Conditioning problems

Air conditioning unit condensation problems.  Air conditioners draw moisture out of the air. Usually this moisture is caught in a tray below the evaporator coils and run outside the unit through a small pipeline. Should this line clog up water may spill into the unit causing undue rust and corrosion or may overflow into the duct work and cause water damage to walls and/or ceilings. Obviously leaks are not desirable since the water will likely damage whatever it falls on. Improper lines means those that are not properly installed or not installed at all that allow water to fall on siding, roofs, etc. The collected water comes from the evaporator coils. Some evaporators are installed in a location within the building which may make it impossible to simply drain the water to the outside or to a sewer drain line. In cases such as this, a condensate pump usually is installed. The condensate pump comes on occasionally and forces the water up through the attic and to a proper dumping point. These small pumps can give trouble and if any problems are noted the inspector will so note them. Condensate lines are easy to repair by most anyone. The inspector will usually inform you as to the exact nature of this problem and its complexity. Leaking or missing lines can be replaced with either copper tubing or plastic pipe. All needed supplies are available at building and plumbing supply outlets. Note: never attempt to work on any electrically operated equipment without first being certain the electricity is turned off to the unit. Contact an air conditioning contractor for assistance or advice if you feel unable to perform this task.
