NJAC 13:40-15.14 requires Licensed Home Inspectors to obtain a minimum of 20 Continuing education units prior to expiration of home inspector licenses on April 30, 2005.

I am offering a course titled "Heating Review One" at the Morris County School of Technology, 400 East Main Street, Denville, NJ on Monday and Wednesday April 25 & 27, 2005 from 5 PM to 10 PM in Room 417 (Monday) and 302 (Wednesday). 

The course number is HEA-HIP45s05.

The cost of the class $180 per student includes pizza and soda dinners.

The class is approved by the New Jersey Home Inspection Advisory Committee for 10 continuing education units and ASHI for 10 MRC's.

At the completion of this lesson the student will be able to:
List the two components of the heating system that must be inspected, list two things that must be described in the report, list six ways heat is generated, four ways heat delivered, and seven safety controls. Define the meaning of the BTU. List and describe three methods of heat transfer, list the seven major components of a gas furnace, list nine possible problems that may be found with gas piping, list 8 possible problems with gas meters. Determine the amount of combustion air required for gas appliance given its input capacity, List and describe the two most common types of gas burners. Describe the function of the gas valve, pilot light and thermocouple. List nine conditions that may be found with gas combustion equipment. List two problems commonly found with gas furnace heat exchangers, list six problems found with furnace cabinets, describe the setting and function of the three fans limit controls, list six problems found with fan controls. Describe in three sentences the basic workings of a mercury bulb thermostat, list seven conditions found with thermostats, describe the function of the venting system, list eleven conditions that are found with vent connectors. Describe in two sentences that two types of blowers. List the six problems found with blowers. List and describe in one sentence each the two main filter systems, describe in two sentences the workings of a humidifier. List 8 components of the duct system in a forced air system, list 12 problems with duct systems. List 12 components of the conventional gas-fired furnace, describe the sequence of operation of a gas-fired furnace, outline the four basic components of the inspection and testing procedure for conventional gas gas furnace, describe the two areas where improvements in efficiency take place when we move from conventional to mid-efficiency furnaces.
