INSULATION COVERING RECESSED LIGHT OR VENTS home inspectors
INSULATION COVERING RECESSED
LIGHT OR VENTS:
Recessed lights are noted for their ability to
build up heat. Since they are closed on top, and
since heat rises, it is expected that the
enclosure could become very hot, especially if
over-rated bulbs are installed. Insulation
covering these lights can often cause enough
heat to create a fire hazard and should be
removed as soon as possible. Remove the
insulation from around and atop the recessed
lights. It is a good idea to remove the
insulation from above all lighting fixtures in
general.
Insulation covering vents should be
removed to allow proper ventilation of the
attic. Sometimes it is possible to remove blown
insulation from vents with the use of a leaf
blower, like gardeners use. Directing the flow
of air at the vent from the outside will
displace the insulation. After doing this be
sure to review the attic to ascertain whether
you have blown it to some other undesirable
location, such as around or on a water heater or
other heating system or over recessed lighting.

insulation covering an incandescent recessed
light. Some recessed lights are designed for
coverage. This type is not and can get very hot.
The insulation must be moved away. Contact
a Home Repair and Maintenance Company for
assistance if needed. Use great care while
moving about in an attic because you can easily
fall through the ceiling to the floor below.
Ceiling materials are much weaker than most
people realize and will not support your weight.
Always step on ceiling joists and other framing
members.

When looking for a NJ Real Estate Lawyer many home buyers seek the advice of an experienced independent New Jersey home inspector because they realize NJ Real Estate Lawyers and independent New Jersey home inspectors are among the select few people involved in the real estate transaction who do not get paid only if the deal gets done. Commission based services such as real estate sales and mortgage brokers only get paid when a transaction closes. If the transaction does not close they spent their time and effort working for nothing at all. While many home buyers are not happy to have to pay for the services of NJ Real Estate Lawyers and independent New Jersey home inspectors when a deal does not close most realize doing so is a small cost compared to buying a home with problems they did not know about in advance and are now stuck paying for repairs on. Like lawyers good independent home inspectors put the interest of their client first, less than ethical professionals put future referrals from those getting commissions when the sale goes through first.
