CAULK TUB / SHOWER ENCLOSURE AT TUB / WALL / PAN / VARIOUS
LOCATIONS
: Several items are mentioned here. The inspector will usually indicate the correct items to caulk or may indicate general caulking and sealing are needed at various locations without being specific. The meaning of the word "enclosure" is that part of the surround which includes the door or other access into the tub or shower. The surround includes all the walls around a tub or shower. The surround and enclosure should be kept as water tight as possible. Any water leaking outside the tub or shower surround can cause damages to flooring, subfloors, walls and ceilings below, etc. Caulk the shower or tub enclosure where it meets the walls or the shower pan dam or tub edge.
