FLOORING
/ SUBFLOOR DAMAGED / ROTTED / LIFTING / STAINED:
This problem is so varied that the inspector
usually will indicate its nature in the written
narrative in the report. Subfloor below carpets
and other floor coverings, which are visible,
are included in this item. Ceramic tile floors
are susceptible to damages from many sources.
Most of the problems noted here will be cosmetic
and are mentioned for your information only.
Some situations, if left uncorrected, may lead
to further damages. Heavily damaged
flooring will usually have to be replaced.
Damage to subfloors should be repaired to
prevent dry rot from spreading. Lifted vinyl
flooring seams can usually be secured with
adhesives made for that purpose. Seam sealers
are then applied to the seam to complete
repairs. Contact a Flooring Contractor or
a Ceramic Tile Contractor for an additional
opinion and assistance.
