UP
FLUSH WATER CLOSET: These units are used in
basements or anywhere the sewer line is above
the water closet. Most models use a jet of water
to break up solids and COMMON DOWN FLUSH TOILET
a second jet to force the liquefied solids up a
pipe into an overhead sewer line. Usually about
10 feet at 60 psi of water pressure is the
maximum lift. It is critical that these water
closets be reviewed for proper anti- backflow
protection. Contact a Plumbing Contractor for
further review of the water closet. Since these
water closets are seldom seen the inspector may
not be able to identify the anti-backflow
assembly.
