TUB / SHOWER DOOR DIFFICULT TO OPERATE / VINYL SWEEP AMISS: Tub enclosure doors usually have rollers at their top edges which glide on tracks. If the rollers are damaged or out of adjustment the doors become difficult to operate. Replacement roller assemblies are available for many types of shower or tub doors and are easy to install for most people. Adjustments are possible on some doors by loosening a set screw on the roller bracket and raising the door up or down. Guides are provided for the doors and are located on the bottom track assembly. The guide is very important, for without it, the door would swing inward and possibly fall off the track. Shower doors that swing outward on hinges are common, in fact, inward swinging doors are not generally allowed by building codes. The vinyl strip, or sweep, at the bottom of the door should be in good condition and adjusted properly at all times. Water leaking under this strip may damage the wall and floor of the bathroom. See Fig. 6030. Should the strip need replacing it should be a simple task to remove it and install a new one. Parts are available at Home Improvement Stores and Shower Door Companies.
