0800 EARTH SEPARATION FROM WOOD / BUILDING INADEQUATE: 
Dirt is built up too close to the wood portion of the building or deck When untreated wood and earth are very close there is increased risk of wood damage from moisture and/or wood boring insects Try to maintain 6 inches between earth and wood. The optimum distance between earth and untreated wood is about 8 inches with the absolute minimum being about 2 inches Remove the excess soil, but in such a fashion as to not cause water to stand against the foundation. Water should always drain away from the structure for at least three feet and have a swale (or small ditch) carry it to a yard drain or to the street. A Landscape Service or a Landscape Contractor can be helpful in undertaking this task the fence at regular intervals and repair if necessary Block, brick, or stone fences that sway excessively should either be removed and replaced or have metal posts driven down alongside the fence. These bracing posts (which are usually chain-link fence posts) should be driven into the ground on both sides of the fence at intervals of six feet for six foot fences, seven feet for five foot fences and so on and should be tied together at the top with wire. This remedy may not be very pleasing aesthetically. In some more severe cases it may be necessary to replace the fence For masonry fences, contact a Masonry contractor for assistance and other repair methods if necessary  Framed stucco or EIFS coated fences are often decorative devices. Some are built with wood frames, some with metal. If this type fence sways it can be remedied in much the same manner as a block fence. Again, the remedy may not look aesthetically pleasing.
