GAS EXTERIOR LIGHTING:
With the price of natural gas being what it is, it is not often that a gas light system is seen. Although they are indeed attractive and pleasant to look at (while turned on), they can be dangerous. They generate heat and can burn. Their gas feed lines can deteriorate and leak and the flame itself can, of course, cause fires  Not-so-common gas post light. Homeowners will often install these as a decorative measure. Light given off by this type system is pleasing to the eye  Our main concern here is to see that they are sturdily erected and firmly in the ground or firmly supported on the building. Keep close watch on any gas light systems. They should be checked as often as TWIce a month If you should smell gas in the yard, turn the gas valve to the light system off immediately Familiarize yourself with the shut off valve location. If there is not one, one should be installed With respect to gas leaks and operational characteristics, gas light systems are not tested or inspected by the inspector. It is recommended that you have the operation of the light demonstrated by the owner during your final walk-through.

Water in basement and water in crawl space, are problems frequantly found during a New Jersey home inspection Make sure your home inspector has the experience necessary to assist you in evaluating these problems and cures.
