0610 METAL FENCE CORRODED / DAMAGED / IN NEED OF MAINTENANCE:
Metal fences usually are of the chain-link or wrought iron types Corroded metal should be repainted with corrosion resistant materials as soon as possible. Damaged fences usually require the assistance of Wrought Iron Companies or Fence Companies unless the problem is loose or missing bolts, etc. electric wires will eventually wear away the insulation, which then leads to a more serious contact hazard, and puts unnecessary strain on the wire supports. Trim the limbs or bushes back from the structure. In the case of limb contact with electric wires, either use extreme caution while cutting back the limbs, or call the local Utility Company and get their opinion, and possibly their assistance. The Utility Company may want to reroute the service wire. Normally there is no charge for this service Cutting a limb which is above the service wire can be extremely dangerous since when it falls it can carry the wire with it. This is a job best undertaken by professionals. If you decide to do it yourself try tying a rope to the limb so a helper can pull it away from whatever it may hit as it falls Call a Tree Service for assistance if the job appears too tough to handle Be aware that defects or other adverse conditions which may be hidden by the offending bush, tree, limb, or other vegetation, may not be visible to the inspector. The inspector cannot report on situations not readily visible or apparent. Once the growth is trimmed you are advised to review the hidden areas for adverse conditions.
