LOW VOLTAGE YARD LIGHT
LOW VOLTAGE YARD LIGHT(S) INOPERATIVE / NEED MAINTENANCE / REPAIRS:
Low voltage (24 volts or less) are not tested during the visual
inspection. If this item was marked the problem must have been obvious.
Examples are: broken or missing bulbs or wires or disconnected equipment
Before attempting any repairs on any electrical equipment always be
certain the electricity to the particular device is shut off. Before
attempting any repairs on low voltage equipment be sure the line voltage
to the transformer is shut off. The transformer is usually located where
the timer or switch is located. Generally everything needed to repair
low voltage light systems is available at Home Improvement Stores. The
major causes for low voltage light failures are: bulb burnout, wires cut
by gardeners, transformer or clock burnout, and poor connections at the
light connectors. At the light connector is a spike which is pressed
into the wire. This "connection" often will loosen from
movement and the particular bulb will no longer burn. Try jiggling the
wire where it enters the affected light. If this fails try a different
bulb from a working light Contact a Landscape Contractor or Handyman
Service for low voltage lighting repairs if you are unable to effect
repairs.
