STORAGE SHED / OUTBUILDINGS:
Most storage sheds, especially the prefabricated metal types, are
relatively inexpensive and easy to install. Wooden storage sheds often
are built by homeowners. None are inspected by the inspector.
Contact the inspector if this is a concern solution to this very common
problem. Your regular, and correctly working, landscape sprinklers will
do the job. Many homes and commercial buildings do not have sprinklers.
Use of a garden hose and sprinkler during extreme dry spells to try to
maintain some moisture in the soil is sound advice. Try not to allow
over watering to occur from inattention, however Expansive soils require
the property owner to exercise a little more precaution around the
foundation than do more sandy soils. Always provide proper drainage away
from the foundation if the prevention of excessive moisture is
impossible. Flower beds which are next to the foundation and which are
"locked in" by sidewalks, driveways or patios are almost
always a source of problems. These areas especially should not be over
watered or allowed to collect roof runoff For additional information you
may wish to contact a Geologist or a Landscape Contractor.
