SOIL EROSION
SOIL EROSION(lack of vegetation / water diversion, etc.): This
potential, or ongoing, problem is generally restricted to hillside properties or
properties which have streams within their boundaries The inspector notes the
movement of earth, or the potential for movement, on hillsides if this item is
marked The inspector will also note this item if the banks of a stream or other
waterway are washing away affecting the grounds, or areas near the grounds of
the inspected property If erosion has occurred and is, or could become, a
significant problem, it is recommended that you contact a Geologist or Soils
Engineer for further evaluation. It may be sufficient to plant additional
vegetation on the hillside. If conditions are extreme it may be necessary to
provide concrete diversion swales or a retaining wall. Waterway erosion may
necessitate backfilling banks. Be cautious with the use of concrete on stream
banks. The improper placement or shape of concrete or gunite® can cause
accelerated erosion on the opposite bank of a stream
